The newly restored Clockwork Orange seemed to me to be very well done although i had never seen the original version. A Clockwork Orange is a 1962 dystopian film directed by Stanley Kubrick filled with sex, drugs, corruption and violence. This film is very odd and eccentric with the dramatic colors and exuberant music beginning of and continuing on through the film. Although it was those things it is also quite intriguing and captivating. The film which is based around the main character Alex played by Malcolm McDowell who is portrayed as what you can say, the leader of the gang. This film is about a corrupted group of boys who are in a gang and go around at night raping women and getting into fights. They usually begin there nights at their local favorite place where they sip on drug milk cocktails which they call “Milk Plus”. They all wear very similar outfits consisting of all white with black boots and black hats and each having some type of feminine makeup on whether it being blush, lipstick or eyelashes.

I view the gang as a circus with the ringleader being Alex who is dressed with a top hat and cane directing the circus of clowns on the shenanigans and crimes. The setting of this film takes place in a futuristic England with so many bright colors and odd furniture and clothing being shown through the film.  One of the main themes of this film is corruption, which we see a lot of as the gang members go around beating and raping innocent civilians and breaking into homes. The dramatic music and close up camera shots really make the audience get the feeling of the scene.

After Alex gets arrested and sentenced to jail for murder some doctors start to  perform a type of therapy called aversion therapy on him. After Alex goes through this therapy they are very pleased with the results they see and let him go back into society thinking that he is a changed man. The ending of this film is very odd and unexpected and shows a different kind of Alex. This film fallows the three act structure starting with the story of Alex and his life, then continuing on to the therapy called the Ludovico technique and ending with him being released from prison back into society. What happens when he gets released is something very interesting and surprising to the audience. I thought this film was very weird  and definitely has a certain type of audience. If you are someone that doesnt like violence then this is not the type of movie for you. It is hard to relate this to another movie because it is so unique and is like nothing i had ever seen before. Although I thought it was filmed very well and interesting, there were certain parts of the film that i found hard to watch and a little confused and uncomfortable.
