Viewed at Santa Barbara International Film Festival<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i.telegraph.co.uk\/multimedia\/archive\/01857\/pina1_1857564b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"163\" \/>The\u00a0documentary\u00a0film Pina was unlike any other film I have seen before. \u00a0If you are a dancer or very\u00a0interested\u00a0by the art of dancing I would recommend seeing the film Pina. \u00a0The film features dances unlike anything I have ever seen before witch made for an interesting film. \u00a0The\u00a0structure\u00a0of the film was lacking story but I don&#8217;t believe the film maker was\u00a0concerned\u00a0about the story more so than the actual dancers and dancing. \u00a0The music also really stood out and helped the dancing and movements flow threw out the entire film.<\/p>\n<p>I viewed the film Pina at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. \u00a0The film was directed by Wim Wenders who did a great job of creating beautiful shots during amazing dance movements. \u00a0The subjects in the film Pina were\u00a0Pina Bausch real dance students as they did Pina style dances and gave insightful information about the amazingly talented\u00a0choreographer Pina Bausch. \u00a0The subjects all had a huge amount of respect for the late\u00a0\u00a0choreographer and all felt a great sense of\u00a0gratitude\u00a0to even be apart of this film.<\/p>\n<p>There was not really a plot to the film Pina. \u00a0The film was constructed of interviews with Pina Bausch&#8217;s old students and there Pina style dance shows. \u00a0There was not a story or a reason other than to show the\u00a0life&#8217;s\u00a0work of a woman who created a brand new way to move the human body. \u00a0In the interviews with Pina&#8217;s students they all seem to look up to her as almost a god like teacher who showed them the life and light that needed to be seen by there eyes and there eyes only. \u00a0Pina&#8217;s work was amazing to watch and her understanding of our\u00a0body&#8217;s\u00a0movements is almost unreal.<\/p>\n<p>The most significant aspect of the film by far is the dancing. \u00a0The dances were unorthodox and strange yet also elegant and beautiful. \u00a0The sound track also helped create a story in the movements of the bodies. \u00a0The editing helped the audience feel like there was a story when there was none at all and they did a very good job putting the footage together that way.<\/p>\n<p>The film Pina was unlike any\u00a0fictional\u00a0film or\u00a0documentary\u00a0I have ever seen. \u00a0Although I personally got bored about 45 minutes into the film, it was still very interesting and different.<\/p>\n<p>I enjoyed watching the film Pina even though I did get bored. \u00a0I\u00a0believe\u00a0I may have liked it more if I had known more information about the film when I walked in the theater. \u00a0If you are or ever have been a dancer I would\u00a0definitely\u00a0recommend checking out this film. \u00a0If you enjoy watching\u00a0contemporary\u00a0dances and body movements unlike anything ever seen check this film out. \u00a0But if your like me not a huge dance fan never have been then I would recommend doing a little more research about who Pina Bausch is and what she\u00a0accomplished\u00a0in her life, then decided\u00a0whether\u00a0it is a film for you or not.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reviewed by Truman Kewley.
