There are some films that are just perfect.; some that leave you thinking and<\/em> smiling. There is no wondering why something happened or why the character made that decision. Woody Allen\u2019s masterpiece and Golden Globe winning film (Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical), Vicky Cristina Barcelona<\/a><\/em>, is a film that is just as thought provoking as it is entertaining.<\/p>\n

This witty and intelligent comedy follows two best friends, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson), to Barcelona, Spain where they spend the summer and escape the norms of society; mainly in the form of love. And their views on love couldn\u2019t be more different. Vicky is conventional and traditional, having a fianc\u00e9e back in the states, while Cristina is more spontaneous and only sure of what she doesn\u2019t want. When the two meet bohemian Spanish artist, Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem), they are whisked away into feelings they never thought of. Vicky begins to question if her relationship with her fianc\u00e9e is the right direction for her after a soulful night with Juan Antonio, while Cristina also<\/em> begins a relationship with Juan Antonio, though much more out of lust and passion. Just as the two are swept away by the seductive artist and begin to wonder about the possibilities of love, Juan Antonio\u2019s deranged ex-wife (Penelope Cruz) comes into the picture\u2026<\/p>\n

This is a truly brilliant script with witty dialogue that is so excellently executed by the actors. It is easy to understand the characters personalities and motives when there is such amazing acting. The whole look and sound of the film is so inviting \u2013 with warm colors and lighting and the magical sound of Spanish guitar playing \u2013 that it is easy and exciting to lose yourself in the story, even as through one or more of the characters.<\/p>\n

Escape to Barcelona with Vicky and Cristina for a hilarious and upbeat comedy featuring some of the finest actors giving incredible performances. This Woody Allen comedy is a must see and one of my favorite films.<\/p>\n
