Oh Boy is directed by Jan-Ole Gerster, and played by a big group of cast members naming just a few such as Tom Schilling who is your main character in the film playing as young adult around the age of his early twenty’s going through a early stage of a mid life Christs. A few other cast names such as Marc Hoseman and Freiderike kempter who co cast as his friends. Tom haves the easy going life style. Blow money, hang around bars, and hang out with friends all day with only one thing to think about. What is it that Tom wants to do in his life, whats going to keep him happy and does he have a bigger purpose in life.

The story line is sometimes hard to follow because of the fact he changes his circle of friends pretty often in the movies but only because hes always searching for something else. I feel as if Tom may be going through the stress of dealing with what he needs to do in order to move on in life. He is getting older and running out of time to figure things out but he can only blame him self. His dad who is a wealthy lawyer has been paying for everything he has bought over time but not with his dads permission but out of the fact he believes Tom is still attending school and he is paying for his funds. You can tell tom is one of those guys that has always had everything going for him and he never really had to work hard for anything he was just everyone’s friend. But Tom doesn’t see that in him self, he see’s him self falling out of the world into mystery of whats next, isolating himself slowly from society.

Overall I loved what Jan-Ole Gerster did with the film because in some ways it would remind me of a entourage episode. Although i wasn’t to big of a fan with the black and white filming as i feel as if it can sometime get boring to your eyes while your watching the film although it dose make you focus more on the conversations because of the fact your eyes are not wondering off into the background.

Reviewed by Tarence Glasker.
