Johnstone\u2019s Rising from Ashes was one of my favorite films of the festival. \u00a0 Narrated by Forrest Whitaker, the film covers six years in the lives of a Rwanda \u00a0cycling team. \u00a0A moving and touching story about 5 young\u00a0Rwanda\u00a0athletes\u00a0and there lives.<\/p>\n<p>The film tells the\u00a0story of\u00a0a\u00a0famous\u00a0cycling\u00a0star named Jock who had lost everything and served some time in jail. He is given the opportunity to come to Rwanda and start a cycling team. When he begins this adventure he has no idea how \u00a0his life and the lives of each rider will change. The riders are all\u00a0survivors\u00a0of a\u00a0brutal\u00a0time in\u00a0Rwandan\u00a0history. Each member of the team has their own personal\u00a0horror\u00a0story from growing up\u00a0during\u00a0the\u00a0civil\u00a0war.<\/p>\n<p>This film is about \u00a0redemption. \u00a0Jock learns to love the team and serve them with loyalty and they in turn\u00a0begin\u00a0to love him and trust him too.The team also learns to trust and love \u00a0each other.<\/p>\n<p>The scenes of Rwanda are\u00a0extremely\u00a0vibrant, colorful and beautiful. The soundtrack was very good, kept\u00a0a nice pace, and had an uplifting and inspiring effect.<\/p>\n<p>The film ends when a\u00a0talented\u00a0member of the team makes it into the\u00a0London Olympics, rising from the ashes of war torn Rwanda and personal\u00a0devastation\u00a0to the 2012 Summer\u00a0Olympics\u00a0and the joy and\u00a0excitement\u00a0of success.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0absolutely\u00a0LOVED this movie, it was well done, and very inspiring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reviewed by Steve Mccomb T.C.
