Those chosen are announced via the SBIFF web site on Monday, February 9th (often very late in the day).<\/p>\n<p>Your tastes will\u00a0differ of course; these notes are from an older man&#8217;s, non-film-studies viewer&#8217;s perspective.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Villa Toumba.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 \u00a0A depressing story of a teenage girl being pushed\u00a0into marriage by Aunts who have very different values. \u00a0She finds a lover not meeting their ideals, with naturally bad outcomes.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Secret Oceans 3D.<\/strong> <\/em>\u00a0Featured at the tribute to the Cousteau Family. \u00a0Spectacular shots of fish faces and other underwater scenes. \u00a0Best left to the iMax crowd or marine lovers.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Partners in Crime.<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0Somewhat confusing because not all of the textual clues are translated and the identity or relationship of some of the female characters is a mystery. \u00a0Leaves one with a\u00a0big question as to &#8216;Who (or what) done it&#8217; to the lead boy character. \u00a0Lots of flashbacks contribute\u00a0to uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Keep On Keepin&#8217; On.<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0Lively story with much jazz music, but outcome is pretty much self evident. \u00a0Worthwhile mostly only for the music itself. \u00a0My friend liked it very much and was pleased to meet in person the talented performer and learn he\u00a0has future gigs lined up.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Gett.<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0Two hours of legal torture for the poor woman, and even poorer audience.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Eighty-Seven.<\/strong> <\/em>\u00a0Interesting story line jumping back and forth over 15 year span, finally getting to the reason for the absence after, ah ha, eighty seven minutes (actually slightly earlier, just seemed that long).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citizenfour.<\/strong> \u00a0Seen previously and highly recommended for its information and background on publishing of the Snowden revelations.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Beatles.<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0Simple-minded story of four lads using their interest in rock-&#8216;n&#8217; roll to try to grow up. \u00a0Go only if you care about little boys trying to become big boys or teen-age dating habits in Norway in the 1970s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reviewed by e Howard Green. \u00a0Viewed at SBIFF sites, February, 2015 A number of the films have been\u00a0seen but\u00a0not selected for standard\u00a0reviews, but are deserving of brief mention. \u00a0 These critiques may help others to evaluate their suitability.
