Montecito Award (Geoffrey Rush, 2011): USA
Reviewed by Laura Horstmann. Viewed at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.
Eight points/bad jokes on the Geoffrey Rush tribute using titles of his films.
- Geoffrey Rush definitely “Shine”d at his tribute on February 1st.
- He seemed so down to earth even on the red carpet when everyone was “Starstruck”.
- Even though I had never heard of him before this week, he became no “Mystery Men”.
- It was hard to listen to the “Intolerable Cruelty” of the moderator’s bringing up uncomfortable topic’s such as Rush’s emotional breakdown.
- Geoffrey easily brushed it off, I guess that’s just the “Warrior’s Way”.
- He discussed his journey from theater acting to the world of Hollywood, seemed like he was “Swimming Upstream”.
- When he talked about stage acting he actually lit up as he showed “A Little Bit of Soul”.
- When Colin Firth showed up to grant him his award he accepted it with a “King’s Speech”.
