A Clockwork Orange (Stanley Kubrick, 1971): USA

Reviewed by Charles Starr Viewed at Santa Barbara Film Festival.

“There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie, and Dim, and we sat in the Korova Milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.”

Stanley Kubricks classic A Clockwork Orange has ingrained itself so deep into pop culture, that evan Snoopy and Bart Simpson can be found adorning Alex’s false eye lash and bowler cap.

I must say, it was truly a treat for me and my three droogs, that is Adam, Joseph, and  Mardis, to see it for the first time on the big screen. Brilliantly remastered by Ned Price and his team at Warner Brothers.

A true cinematic treat.
