Up There(Zam Salim 2011): UK

What will happen after we die? UP THERE gives us unique view of afterlife. After people died, they cannot go to afterlife immediately. They stuck between world. Martin who is main character of this movie is one of them. Only their wish is climbing up to to afterlife. Under the stair, Martin looks up there.

There are counselors to help dead people to go afterlife. A process to go there are organized like a government office. It cynically represent our real life. The world is tethered by rules and we follow it. Since our life tends to routine work, we loose vitality little by little. These rules steals zip of having fun in the life. Moreover we still must follow the rules, even though we died.

In this movie, dead people seems more alive than living people. For example, in a library scene, living people just turn pages blankly.. On the other hand, Martin seems more alive than them. Because he has a goal.

This movie may encourage us to live own life with purpose everyday.
