An Awkward Sexual Adventure (Sean Garridy, 2012): Canada

A hilarious comedy based out of Canada follows the life of Jordan Abrams, a spineless accountant who is unable to please the love of his life, Rachel Stern, in bed. This being a major problem for Rachel, she ends up breaking things off and leaves Jordan in heartbreak and denial that they are actually over.
After chasing his “soul mate” Rachel (Sarah Mannimen) since middle school, Jordan finally convinces Rachel to give him a chance to be more than friends only to discover he doesn’t have what it takes to make her stick around. Abrams, played by Jason Chernick (also directed), is simply a socially awkward individual who feels he lacks the confidence he needs to keep the spark alive both physically and emotionally in his relationships. Traveling to the big city of Toronto, Jordan turns to his best friend Dandak, played by Vic Shahay to be his “sex yoda” providing him with advice and tips in order to be better in bed. The acting throughout this film is on point, continuing to entertain me and make me as well as the theater burst out into laughter. The main actor Jason did an excellent job of portraying the incredibly awkward situations one can get himself into with absolutely no confidence conversing with the opposite sex.
Vic Shahay in my opinion was the most talented, even though his on screen time was a fraction compared to the rest of the cast I got a severe feeling of talent from him. He delivered every line, whether he was conversing with his new love or delivering sexual advice to his best friend, with such energy that I couldn’t help but to laugh. I felt as if the stripper or Jordan’s real “sex Yoda”, Julia played by Emily Hampshire was also very passionately delivered. She portrays a character who helps this hopeless person (Abrams) with a perfect combination of helpfulness, friendliness, and humor.
The director, Sean Garridy used many different camera angels through out the film that made it interesting to watch as well. For example, the opening scene where Abrams is cutting the fruit up into shapes and faces Garridy used an aerial view that made it a really interesting shot.
The chemistry and bond that Chernick and Hampshire shared in this film truly made it a joy to watch as well tagging along on this eccentric journey with the two characters. The acting and brilliant screen writing is a main contributor to the humor that kept me laughing and laughing through out the film. We follow Jordan Abrams as he absorbs all the knowledge he possibly can through his sexual education which turns out to be a humorous and entertaining journey. Overall excellent film and had a great time watching it.
