Amy Adams was given the Cinema Vanguard Award. The Cinema Vanguard award is given to actors who take risks in their films.

The interview started after some scenes of Amy Adam’s movies showed on the screen. Afterwards, Amy came out and began the interview. You can tell she isn’t a huge fan of talking about herself. While that is nice to know, because she’s humble, it wasn’t as entertaining as someone who might like to talk about all the details of their life experiences and enjoy it. Amy seemed uncomfortable with all of the compliments, the interviewer  kept giving her. It dragged out at some points because the moderator, didn’t keep a good pace with the questions and answers. In fact although I really do like Amy, the night dragged on way too long.

Amy’s stories were funny and she was more open when she talked about her earlier years as a struggling actress. It made me think of my daughter and how she’s trying to do the same thing as Amy was at the time. It was nice to hear that this big movie star also struggled and wasn’t just handed part after part on a silver platter. One of the most interesting and touching parts of the night was when a scene from Junebug showed and Amy was asked about it. She was very emotional during the answer and even cried at one point. It was nice to see that even she was touched by the very emotional scene.

The director of ” The Master” presented the award to her at the end of the night and he was very funny and entertaining.I could see how well he as a director could help her relax with a joke even at an award ceremony. She was very gracious and genuine when she accepted her award. If it weren’t the moderator drawing the night out too long, I would have enjoyed the whole experience, it was nice to listen to Amy and her views on all of her movies,  and I liked watching the clips from her movies. Over all it was an entertaining evening.
