The Virtuosos Award
Reviewed by Steve Mccomb Viewed at The Arlington Theater
Six actors were honored with the Virtuoso’s Award. The actors were Elle Fanning, Ann Dowd, Ezra Miller, Omar Sy, Quevanze Wallis, and Eddie Redmayne. The interviewer’s name was Dave Karger and he kept a great rhythm and pace to all the interviews.
My favorite two actors to listen to were Ann Dowd and Omar Sy. Ann Dowd was very sensitive and smart while Omar Sy was very sweet and funny. Ann Dowd starred in the film Compliance and when she was asked about her character, she said that she was an insecure woman who lost her compass. I thought she was a very smart woman and was also very likable Omar Sy was hilarious and good natured. He had a difficult time speaking English but he was definitely fun to listen to and watch. He was good in the clips that were shown and I am officially a fan of his.
I didn’t enjoy Elle Fanning very much, I found her a bit boring to listen to, however when I saw the clip of “Ginger and Rosa” that Elle Fanning was in, I was impressed with her acting. She is only 14 years old and I had a hard time paying attention to her. Ezra Miller was funny and smart but, again, I had a hard time relating to his young energy.
I liked Eddie Redmayne; he was very charming and well spoken. I loved the scene they showed of him singing in Les Miserables. Quevanze Wallis was very funny and when the group interview happened, she surprised me at how well behaved and polite she was. She seemed to have a naturally generous spirit and didn’t hog the spotlight or misbehave. I was pleasantly surprised by her ability to be so relaxed and witty at the ripe old age of 8, I am excited to see what the future will hold for her, and if she will win the Oscar this year.
Overall, the Virtuoso’s Award was very entertaining and touching.
