This is a lovely film directed by Andrew Putschuoegl.
BFF= best friends forever. The film is about two best friends that has been friends a long time and they really fit perfectly. Kat and Samantha. The movie starts with Kat’s birthday party, but she isn’t in really mood because she recently broke up with her husband. So Kat and Samantha takes off and leave the other invited alone. But what Samantha doesn’t forget is to bring Kats birthday presents. One present she got is a gift card. A weekend to Malibu for spa and relaxation, for a pair though. They go anyway and pretend to be a couple.
It’s a husband and wife that are having this spa. They also have a program called “Closer to closeness” that they need to attend. What they didn’t really know is that this whole deal is to work out things between pairs. So the only thing they can do is to lie and come up with stories that aren’t true. It’s really funny.
The other pairs is there to strengthen their relationship by doing a lot of different exercises. Kat and Samantha have to work on their relationship as well, which isn’t really a relationship.
They actually look kind of funny together, Kat is more of the “man-girl” and Samantha is very tall and handsome. Whatever comes out from Kats mouth, it’s funny. She has this angry tone in her voice and it seems like everything is a pain the ass for her.
So, it’s five intense days with relationship-exercises and in the end the lines between fiction and reality starts to blur. Do they really love each other in that way? My best friend? A woman?
The actresses are so believable. I almost thought they were in love in real life. But the actresses actually talked to the audience on the Santa Barbara film festival after the movie, and made sure they weren’t a couple and that they were into men. They had heard that one before.
I loved the environment in the film. It was warm, sunny and relaxing. The only thing I needed to do was to lean back and enjoy the film. You should see it!
