Monsters University (Dan Scanlon, 2013) USA
Reviewed by Linnea Nilsson at Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2014
Being a monster is a hard thing to be
It’s hard to scare the children and then manage to flea
We meet our old friend Mike Wazowski, who has a plan
to go to a university of scaring, and so the story began
He is smart, but does not know how to scare
Then Jake Sullivan enters, with his blue fluffy hair
With just one scream, he is able to impress
The teacher applause and Mike gets obsess
Mike and Sully fights and start to compete against each other
But seriously, do they even have to bother?
Mike is smart and Sully is not
And Mike doesn’t have the scariness that Sully got
They both get kicked out of their program because they failed a test
Having their dreams crushed makes them somewhat depressed
But Mike finds a plan to get back, all he need is a team
A team for the Scare Games, with people with the scariest scream
I like this movie, I really do
But movie number one will always be better than movie number two
The editing, lightning and and colors I enjoyed
But I never really laughed which made me annoyed.
The creativity of the different monsters is really good
They all looked different, had bright color, as they should
But after all, it’s all about the plot
It was good, but not as good as I would’ve thought
It wasn’t anything wrong with the plot, it wasn’t boring
There was just something missing, but it was still adoring
Imagine that it was 13 years ago we first saw the monsters and Boo
They did a great job then and a really good job with Monsters Inc 2
