Barefoot (Andrew Fleming, 2014): USA
I saw Barefoot at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. Andrew Fleming directed it.
Barefoot is about an upper class, gambling, good lucking guy who is mopping floors at a psychiatric hospital. One day a young girl named Daisy (Evan Rachel Wood) get sign in at the hospital after her mother passed away. Daisys mother was an overprotectiv mother who didn’t let Daisy do anything, therefore she doesn’t know anything about the society. The doctors think she is mentaly ill because of her behavoir.
Jake (Scott Speedman) asks her if she wanted to go to his brothers wedding and pose as his girlfriend infront of his family so he could prove for his family that he changed. After a bad attemnt of her trying to pose as his girlfriend, they take of together and starts a journey back to Los Angeles that changes their lives.
I think Scott speedman did a good job playing a bad boy player with also a sensitiv side. Im not to sure what I think about Evan Wood though. It felt like she over played her character sometimes.
I think this is a film is definitely worth looking at. The ending is kind of predictable, but that is often the case in romantic comedy. If you are into romantic comedies, you will like this one.
