Barefoot (Andrew Fleming, 2014): USA

Reviewed by Antwon Calhoun, viewed at the Santa Barbara international film festival.

I would have to say this is one of the best films I got a chance to see during the film festival in my opinion. This movie is a romantic comedy one of my favorite movie genres. One of the reasons why this movie cot my attention was because it was different from other romantic comedies I have seen in the pass.

I saw Barefoot at Mertro 4 movie theater in Santa Barbara, Ca. This movie was directed by Andrew Fleming, the main characters of this film are Daisy Kensington and Jay Wheeler. Daisy Kensington is played by Evan Rachel Woods and Jay Wheeler is Played by Scott Speedman. They had one really big actor in this movie his name is J.K Simmons he played the doctor in the movie.

This Movie Barefoot starts off being about a man named Jay who works at a Hospital as a janitor. He has a vary rich family and a successful brother, he is the black sheep in the family and he doesn’t stay in touch with them. Daisy the woman in the film she is in a mental hospital the same hospital where Jay is a janitor. She is placed in the  mental hospital because her mother died and doctors  believed she did it. Daisy doesn’t really have any good social skills because of her mother homeschooling her and keeping her inside the house. Jay’s brother is having a wedding and is having trouble fining a date so he ends up taking Daisy because she was convenient.

I really enjoy watching this film the acting was great by Evan Rachel Woods who played Daisy she had me believe that she was a sheltered  girl. All out through the film she started to develop and learn more about things. That made it really good to watch because you got the chance to see her grow as a person. In the film i realize that they had a pretty good sound track to fit each scene. This made me feel the emotions of the scenes a lot more. The editing in the film seemed pretty basic for a movie nothing special.

In conclusion, I thought that everyone who helped make this movie did really well. I really liked the unique plot of the girl having issues and the guy taking care of her. This move kinda reminded  me of the movie 50 first dates  with Adam Sandler and Drew Berrymore. I highly recommend this movie if you are a fan of romantic comedies.
