Get the weed (Mision no Oficial) is an instant lovable mockumentary about Alfredo Rodriguez (Denny Brechner) taking on the challenge of representing the Uruguayan Chamber of legal Marijuana in a misson to the United States to find a supplier of 50 tons of cannabis to ship back to Uruguay. This mission is not only to help its cannibis drought, but also save the back of newly elected President Mujica.

In Get the Weed we meet Alfredo running a pharmacy in Uruguay that is giving out free Marijuna brownies for the public to consume. This comical character played by Denny Brechner is a very fun interesting guy to watch. He reminds me a lot of the character “Borat” in the way as their humor is somewhat in a similar style.  As they are hired by President Mujica Alfredo brings his mother along with him for the cannibis journey. We get to watch these characters evolve into a American socitey that is so new and unknown to their own.

This guerrilla style mockumentary truly shows the hard work that Denny Brechner put into this whole operation mission while keeping in character with his mother for the entire film.  Its hard to tell which is real and what is portrayed as a joke. With guest appearances with President Mujica and President Obama, it is a edge of the seat classic! English subtitles definitely makes this film even more hilarious and enjoyable to watch with its dry humor and foreign antidotes. If your interested on following a group of people who go the extra mile to save there newly loved president and country in the name of weed, this is a must watch and a reason to lite up too! This film also received a Special Mention for the Nueva Vision award for Span/Latin American Cinema for the Santa Barbara International Film Festival for its humor and audience appreciation.
