Toy Story 4 is an animated story that strays from the familiar gang of toys and focuses more on Woody’s challenges about where he belongs, a new unsuspecting toy, and long lost friend Bo Peep. The original cast of toys still make their appearances but in more of a supporting role than in previous films.

The first thing I noticed was that the use of contemporary animation was dashingly deceiving. By way of the detail put into the digital sets .that made certain scenes look almost real. After this, Woody is introduced with the classic scene of him on horseback riding amongst a blue sky and clouds while an unforgettable tune “You Got A Friend in me” by Randy Newman plays. This time around, there is a new kid in the spotlight all of these toys’ lives, Bonnie. Early on it seemed Bonnie low key  demasculated Woody by removing his sheriff badge and placing it on Jesse, Woody’s cowgirl counterpart. Moving on…

Woody comes along with Bonnie on her first day of school. No one is social with her so she ends up creating a new toy from discarded material, Forky. The toys are more bold in this movie. They’re not afraid to move around when people are present. One goes as far as throwing its voice so that a person hears it and replies as the toy is out of sight.

Forky is troubled alongside Woody as his trashy past attracts him to trash. It is not until Woody convinces Forky of his significance to Bonnie that he then focuses on Bonnie and being a toy. On they’re epic journey back to Bonnie they run into long lost friend, Bo Peep, who has been roughing without a kid for the last 7 years.

Threw an epic up and down adventure of reuniting Forky with Bonnie, Woody realizes where he now needs to be. He surrenders his badge to Jessie, says his goodbyes to the gang,  and runs off with Bo to enjoy the freedom of “Infinity and Beyond!”
