127 Hours is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston’s(James Franco:Spiderman) amazing adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crushes his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. The film was a big hit around the world and was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Actor and Best Picture. Written, directed, and produced by Danny Boyle, this movie puts you in the mindset that you are confined. In some way everyone is trapped in their own life, maybe not to extent that Ralston is, but its how you deal with it. This movie portrays great strength and willpower.Over the next five days, Ralston recalls his life and knows he is not ready to give up. The decision between life and death become apparent to Ralston when he has to choose to do something most people would not be able to do. Knowing no one will be there to rescue him, he has to rely on his natural instincts and evade this situation before its too late. With very little water and no food, Ralston is dying. Does he have what it takes to live?

The most memorable scenes of this movie, are the documented ones. Ralston keeps a recorded log of what happens while he is stuck in the crevasse. Everyday getting more weak and hallucinating even more. The most memorable quote was made while filming on the last day he was trapped in the crevasse, “Mom, Dad, I really love you guys. I wanted to take this time to say the times we’ve spent together have been awesome. I haven’t appreciated you in my own the way I know I could. Mom, I love you. I wish I’d returned all of your calls, ever. I really have lived this last year. I wish I had learned some lessons more astutely, more rapidly, than I did. I love you. I’ll always be with you. ” He thinks about his family and apologizes for some of the troubles he has caused. At his last moments he realized he isn’t ready to give up the people he loves and the life he lived.

I would recommend anyone to see this film. I rate it a 9.5/10. The storyline is flawless and the filming is intriguing. The budget for this film was Eighteen million dollars but somehow only grossed Fifteen million. Most people think this movie looks a little boring, but give it a chance, you will find it has a wonderful story and a terrific moral. 127 Hours is very similar to Frozen (2010), directed and written by Adam Green. Frozen is about three friends who get stranded on a chair lift while snowboarding. Their only way out is down. Only one of the three survive but it also shows the struggles of being put in a life and death situation.
