The film “Restrepo” was a Documentary about the war in the Korengal Valley, that was released Just 25, 2010. It was directed by Tim Hetherington, and Sebastian Junger and shot in the Korengal Valley, Afghanistan. It was produced by National Geographic Channel, and Outpost films. It was nominated for an Oscar, and 4 Award wins, and 5 other nominations. The language spoken was English, and Arabic. It was rated ‘R’ because of the language throughout and some descriptions of violence.

The conflict of the film was that the Korengal Valley was under constant siege by the Taliban, and the Al Qaeda. Film makers, and Directors, Tim Hetherington, and Sebastian Junger take a trip with their camera gear to the deadliest war zone Afghanistan, the Korengal Valley to spend a year filming the Second Platoon, a newly recruited squad who, after a fellow squad member died, built a strong outpost, Outpost Restrepo. Being the stronghold to the most terrorist organizations in all of the middle east, Korengal Valley is home to the fiercest war on terror. Every shot fired is personal, and every fallen foe is a blessing to their fallen soldiers. This film was approximately 93 minutes in length, and every second is worth watching. It is packed full of Action, Good times, and tough situations.

The director’s goal was to show us how hard life was in the Korengal Valley, and he was 100% successful, as it shows how they are under constant fire, and how they need to navigate their way through the valley, whilst watching each others backs, all the action was real, no need for that Hollywood glamor that most war movies have.

The films primary strengths were all the action and death, it really messed with the soldier’s heads, and some will be scarred with what they saw for the rest of their lives. My overall rating was 7 out of 10, because it was a very interesting story, with great action, and a great storyline.
