Arirang (Kim Ki-duk, 2011): South Korea
Reviewed by Asante Rose Lewis. Viewed at AFI Festival.
I personally do not recommend this movie to any movie goers. This was a very depressing documentary shot and filmed by a Kim Ki Duk from South Korea.
The documentary is shot in a interview format with Kim interviewing himself on why he exiled himself into the mountains of South Korea and stop making films.
Kim was shooting a a scene in a prior film of suicide by hanging and she almost hung herself if Kim had not saved her. This NEAR fatal accident sent him into such a emotional breakdown he had to exile a leave a country who loved his films for accident.
I believe that Kim made a bigger deal of his incident then is was just to try and get back in the game. I wouldn’t recommend this documentary to anyone.
