Garbage Warrior (Oliver Hodge, 2007): UK
The story in Oliver Hodges documentary Garbage Warrior (2007) is noteworthy. We follow Mike Reynolds, a hardworking environmentally minded architect. Mike had the misfortune and fortune of being the kind of guy that questions conventionality. He creates/blazes/stumbles upon his own path as only a rebel with a cause could. His cause is environmentally friendly living. Trying to meld together people and their environments by creating “Earthships.” The problems arise with magnificent clashes with the musty self-serving bureaucratic machine of the New Mexican government. Mike’s ideas of buildings do not fit into traditional building codes and health code laws. I would suggest seeing this film to those of you who like the idea of environmentally minded buildings. To those of you who don’t like the idea, then you should force yourselves to like the idea and then go see this film or rent it or whatever. These ideas and subsequently this film should be seen by as many people as possible. This documentary lets us dive into the world of Mike Reynolds and presents him and his world views in a wonderful way.
