Samsara (Ron Firicke 2011): Canada
Reviewed by Charles Starr Viewed at Santa Barbara Film Festival.
Titled after the Tibetan word meaning, “The ever turning wheel of life” comes Samara, from the creators of Chronos and Baraka. This visual masterpiece shot on 65mm film. With virtually no dialogue, is truly one of cinemas greatest treasures. The narrative is one of life, and transcendence but not without its, darkness, frailty and self destruction. Words hardly do this film justice and in the spirit of Baraka it is something that needs to be experienced. It will blow your mind and really make you think about all we has humans do, and represent.
Go see it , I can not stress this enough. You won’t be sorry.
