Up There (Vam Salim) 2011 UK
This film Up There was reviewed by Jake Horstman at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.
Up there is a comedy starring Warren Brown, Burn Gorman, and Jo Hartley.
This comedy is about a man named Martin (Warren Brown) who is deceased and trying to get from pergatory to up there into what most would consider to be heaven. You are stuck in this world of pergatory until you can prove that are no longer depressed and have accepted that you are dead and are able to live your dead life than you are able to go “up there”. Martin is terribly depressed and very dull. His job is to welcome people who just died and take them to the pergatory office where they have to check in so they to have a chance to go up there and are not wondering the world in pergatory forever. He then meets a guy named Rash who he can not stand, and of course when his old partner makes it up there, he gets partnered up with Rash.
Him and Rash have to go on a long mission to find this kid to take him to check in. But a loud mouth with Rash who talks 24/7 and does not really think to much. The whole time he constantly annoys Martin and makes everything more difficult. Rash thinks they are friends which annoys Martin even more. Rash is always doing things to slow them down when Martin has a deadline so he can get his evaluation to go “up there”. Martin tries to ditch him several times, but constantly runs into Rash. Then when finally reaching their destination to find the kid, they run into trouble from the pergatory guards for that town.
Rash makes some friends out there who help him out, whose trying to help Martin but Martin sees it as he is holding him back and making it worst. The rest I can not say with out ruining the movie, but their are quiet a few twsit after what I have already wrote about and some during the time of movie im talking about but did not add in certain things in order not to ruin the movie.
Overall the movie was alright. The lead character was not to funny, but the guy who played Rash was hilarious. This is a type of movie you watch if it is on instant netflix or on tv. But I have defianlty seen worst so if you have free passes to the movies and do not know what to see and are extrmley bored than do what you do and go see this film.
