La Luna (Enrico Casarosa,2011):USA

Reviewed by Angel Martinez. Viewed at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.

La Luna was shown on the opening night of the film festival before Lawrence Kasdan’s Darling Companion, and although running under less than 10 minutes, affected me much more deeply than the latter film. This film is about a young boy who at night works doing janitorial service on the moon along his father and grandfather. I personally found it to correlate with my current life as I too just started working at night doing custodial work with my father and uncle and which requires me to hold an almost unknown and new responsibility. It is a coming of age Pixar animation that touches on discovery, and self-discovery.
