Tilting at Skyscrapers

Being a light to moderate gamer I can appreciate this little lighthearted excursion of a film, Tilting at Skyscrapers, and, if there is anything of the gamer in you, you will probably get a decent chuckle as well.

Don (Frank Stasio) is a hardcore gamer who finally loses his grip on reality and fantasizes he is on a mission in a futuristic military style game. His neighbor, Billy (Jeff Elam), who had come down to complain about the noise, goes along with him at 3:00 in the morning to keep him out of trouble.

At eight minutes long there is not a lot to this film, but what is there is enjoyable. The special effects are respectable, the soundtrack by Michael Teoli is very good with some fine classic video game inspired music at the end, there are some nice comic moments evenly spaced throughout courtesy of Frank Stasio’s screenplay and good pace and timing from director Benjamin Pitts, and a solid overall performance from Elam.

Maybe it was the ColecoVision reference, but this film had me smiling right from the beginning. I’d have to say it’s not a bad way to spend eight minutes.
