I really liked the winning film too, it was probably my favorite in the whole 10-10-10! Like you said the editing in the short was very good and so was the cinematography and humor. I want to see more from this director as well as writer. I didn’t quite like “Frenemies” that much since it was a bit slow paced and I wasn’t quite sure where it was going. Other than that I think your right that there were some shorts that didn’t quite work out well in the finished state, I think it’s interesting thinking about if this was because of the director or the writer. All in all though I think there was a good collection of films this year and I would recommend anyone to go to this event next year. Thank you for your review!
Maybe because this was at the end of the festival instead of the beginning I had high expectations for what I was watching and these shorts were so disappointing and shallow. All the high school shorts blended together in my head because they all seemed to be about some variation of love. The college shorts were a little better but I felt like the winning college short was edited in a way that I would never watch a full length movie because ten minutes felt too long. The only film I though touched on anything remotely important was the first short where the picture at the top of this review is from, that genetically modified foods (GMOs) turned their employer into a zombie. To say the least I was disappointed for an hour too long.
