The Court Jester (Melvin Frank, Norman Panama, 1955): USA

The court jester was probably the funniest movie I saw at the AFI film Fest. First of I thought it was going to be a old mainstream musical knight movie with the same normal plot and finish as always. But this movie was everything but that.

The movie starts of with Hubert Hawkings (Danny Kaye) singing a long song while the intro and presentation was of the directors and producers etc. that normally is in the end. Hubert Starts of in the deep woods with the royal baby in his arms next to the feared Black Fox. All the people of the Forrest lines up in a big line where every person that’s stands first in line has to kiss the little babies’ cute butt, cause of the purple little plant that looks just like a tattoo. Later on he gets a mission, and that mission is to pretend to be the court jester for the king. But things happens, not only does his feelings for the young and beautiful Maid Jean (Glynis Johns) starts from the first time he sees her but he must also care about the kings daughter that wants to marry him. And also one of the kings men have terrible things in his mind, and decides by mistake to take help by the great court jester, that in this case has been replaced by non other then Hubert Hawkings.

You can tell that this movie is really old by the light, clothing and the way everyone is speaking. Really old fashion words, and of course the way the pronounce the words and sentences.
The whole cast is pretty good, but the one that stands out is of course the really talented actor Danny Kaye. He is just perfect for this character and he sings really well.

I would recommend this movie to everyone in every age. I funny Musical/family movie by the directors Melvin Frank and Norman Panama. So watch it, “Get it? Got it! Good!”
