   Se7en is a film that is very interesting. It contrasts three characters, Freeman’s, Pitt’s, and Spacey’s. Freeman is a retiring homicide agent whose poise and wisdom is combated by the rookie Pitt’s ambitious efforts to impress the department. As Freeman tells Pitt he doesn’t know what he is getting into. It is clearly shown in Fincher’s use of ultra graphic homicide scenes. Spacey on the other hand is a sociopath that seems to yearn for attention, but is really trying to get the attention of the public. He commits these crimes in order to show the filth and scum in the world. It seems as if Freeman and Pitt will catch “John Doe” but the genius of his plan is finally displayed in the final scene where the twist is revealed. Just as Spacey believed more people than him are disgusted with the world around. Even though Pitt believes he is psychotic Spacey shows how he is no better when Pitt’s wife’s head is revealed in a box. Pitt cannot refrain form killing Spacey and committing the seventh deadly sin, wrath. This film is a true thriller and can be enjoyed by most audiences, if you have the stomach for it.
