A letter home (Marcus Walter, 2014): USA
Reviewed by Cornelia Eriksson at Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2014.
I have made a review of a movie that I want to share
The movie is about the most horrible nightmare
that you as a parent wish you never have to experience.
When your daughter is out and you do feel tense.
What if your daughter became pregnant and lost all her money.
and she fell in love, and became a drug dealer’s honey.
And if she was left alone, because the drug dealer got caught
What if everything happened that you never thought?
What if YOU ended up sick, pregnant, lonely and poor
That is the story, but I will reveal no more.
Because then you won’t see it, which I really think you should
Because the story, the sound and picture was good.
Marcus Walter tells the story in a really excellent way.
And what the genre should be, is very hard to say.
This movie is not a comedy and nor is it a thriller
Because it’s not about some kind of serial killer.
It’s not action or romance, more like a fantasy-drama
Because what she experiences is a serious trauma
A horrible trauma, which young people should try to avoid.
just because, it could get your whole life destroyed.
This was one of the best short films I’ve seen.
Maybe I think so because I am a teen.
But I do think they used humor and finesse.
And that is what makes a great success.
