Monsters University (Dan Scanlon, 2013): USA
I saw Monsters University at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. Monsters University one of my favorite animated films of all time. A brilliant story about the unexpected friendship and chasing your dreams. Monsters University is written and directed by Dan Scanlon, who is one of the writers for Disney and Pixars big movie, Cars. I haven’t seen the first movie Monsters Ink. But after seeing this one. I have to see the first one.
It starts with when Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) goes to primary school and his class are going on a field trip to monsters inc that Mike realizes that he wants to become a scarer. Years later and Mike getting of the bus at Monsters University (MU). Mike’s long desire to become a scarer had finally come true. Mike soon realised that he had a long way to go. His main problems is; he is not really scary. His first day of school he meets Jim “Sully” Sullivan(John Goodman), the son of the legendary Bill Sullivan. Just because Sullys last name is Sullivan, he thinks that he can glide trough collage. A personal dispute is built between Mike and Sully.
Mike and Sully gets expelled from the scarer program and can no longer become real scarers after an accident between them that ended up in a broken item that belonged to the legendary Dean (Helen Mirren). Mikes and Sullys dream to become a scarer was over. But Mike came up with an idea that could get them back into the program. The idea was to win the Scare Games (a game that the Dean hosted every year). Mike made a deal with the Dean that if his team won the Scare Games, she would let them back in the program.
I liked everything about this movie, but one thing that i liked the most was the characters. An amazing mix of ugly, funny, stupid, smart and weird characters that build the whole movie.
I would definetly recommend this movie to all my friends. This is and entertaining movie for the whole family.
