Blind (Eskil Vogt, 2014): Norway
Reviewed by Michelle Ciccati. Viewed at the AFI Fest 2014 in Hollywood.
Blind is not the story of a blind person as much as it is the story of a writer. Any writer can relate to the feeling of being in their story and not knowing which way it is going. This film does an amazing job of taking the viewer on that journey.
Blind begins with Ingrid (Ellen Dorrit Petersen), a writer who has recently lost her vision. Director and writer, Eskil Vogt, fully realizes the life of this woman. We “see” the world she is creating and feel what it is to be trapped in a life where fantasy and imaginations run wild. We follow her through all the missteps of her memory and stories within the story.
This very sexual and fast paced story-telling will give you a glimpse into the mind of the writer.
