The grump is a comedy film directed by Domo Karukoski. Though its a comedy I think its quiet sad to. When I see the movie I see a old lonely man who regrets many things in his life. I got a bit sentimental watching the movie because I really related to my grandfather who was pretty much the same, a bit grumpy about a lot of thing in life, didn’t like the development the world was making.

So the film about “The grump” who was an old man, grumpy and believed that everything made after 1953 was made to make his days worse.
He fell down the basement steps and hurt his ankle so he was sent to Helsinki for physiotherapy.

In Helsinki he staid at his daughter in law for the weekend. He was quite clear from the beginning he didn’t want to stay at her place. As she was a busy business woman she didn’t actually have time for him neither.

The whole film I think is seeing the contrast of generations, how in “The Grumps” generation you did all handy work by you’re self, and in one scene you can see when “The grump” is about to order a coffee and a black girl is taking his order and he refuses to speak to her and does not want is coffee any more.

I think this movie is brilliant and funny even if its a bit sad to. I wish i could shown this movie to my grandfather so he maybe could se life from another perspective!
