Writer’s Panel

This Panel is for a conversation gathers all the outstanding writers including Academy Award nominees. They are Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), Alex Dinelaris (Birdman), Max Frye (Foxcatcher), Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler), Jason Hall (American Sniper), Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything) and Graham Moore (The Imitation Game).

At the beginning, they talked about how they feel as a movie writer. Damien Chazelle who wrote Whiplash basic on his own experiences while he was a jazz drummer in school. the whole movie was pretty much his biography. He is only 30 years old, very young and talented. in fact he is the youngest out of all the writers. He said the habit of his writing process was 90% of the time he was sitting in the couch being in pajamas and feeling shitty about himself.  Alex Dinelaris says I will have to stay away somewhere isolated without TV and internet and must come back home with at least 10 pages so his wife wouldn’t think he is an unemployed househusband. Even the greatest screen play writer who is lagging about their writing process. And they have lower-self esteem felt like they aren’t contribute to the world. But then they said that’s where the writing started. sometime you just need to do nothing before you write a master piece. “And sometime when you are cooking or showering that’s where you start the writing. A idea will hit you” Alex Dinelaris says. Or sometimes a idea could sounds ridiculous When Alex heart the director says “I want to make a movie that is made by one take, it happens in a theater and has to be comedy.”

As a writer, according to Max Frye, It doesn’t getting any easier as you grow old. Indeed, there is so much need to be done from the paper to the actual silver screen. However, everything starts from the script.
