Almost Friends (Nitzan Ofir, 2014): Israel

It is a pretty unusual film, not really a cinema film in my opinion. The cinematogrophy is shot very boring where there are no special effects or anyting like that even though it happens in the real life and nothing that happened in the movie would happen for real. It is neither filmed good and not so interesting to watch. It is in the drama genre, but there was not that much drama around the plot itself. I thought that it was more of a documentary and I’m not that fond of that genre in movies.

The plot is about two different schools, one is a jewish school and the other on is arabian. The two schools have a history of grudge between them. Samar goes to the arabic school and the jewish girl is called Linor. The older generation want the younger ones to get their own idea about the other culture and people, that is where the teachers have come up with an idea where the students get a friend from the other school and swithc mails with the person. The students sit on a computer and exchange letters with one another before they meet each other. The girls talk a lot at home where they will met someone from the other culture and see what their parents think about it. When the big day arrives, they take a buss to the other school to see the other girls and aeveryone has a special girl that they have mailed. Samar and Linor becomes friends quicly and they enjoy spending time with each other. They don’t  think that they are different from one another. When they are heading back they both tell each others that they would keep in touch but they both failed to keep that promise.
