Virtuosos Award
This year, the virtuosos award goes to Chadwick Boseman from Get on Up, Ellar Coltrane from Boyhood, Logan Lerman from Fury, David Oyelowo from Selma, Rosamund Pike from Gone Girl, J.K. Simmons from Whiplash and Jenny Slate from Obvious Child. They are the artists who had big breakthroughs of their roles.
First of all, the was a question was asked to Ellar Coltrane, “Had you wanted to quite filming something 13 days per years, 12 years in a roll?” from the interview. Its hard to not talk about how this movies was done chronically in 12 years and how the actors was thinking. Rosamund Pike talks about that she gave a birth of a human being after created a inhuman role. She also went to talk to a butcher and asked if she could just kill a pig with a razor to see how would it feel to her in order to perform the murdering scene. David Oyelowo says people discriminate him because he has English accents. Jenny Slate went to the bathroom after the premier of Obvious Child, a old lady said to her that the lead actress, what do you think? When Chadwick Boseman told his family that he is going to play a dancing role, all their family’s members was unsupportive. They think he can’t dance. Surprisingly, J.K. Simmons was performing 24 hours ago before he came to this award. He hasn’t slept for 2 days but he still looks like very excited.
It’s so interesting to see how actors’ lives has been affected by playing their roles and how hard to play someone else while their real lives are totally the opposite. Or sometime, you will have to sacrificed so much to be good actors which involved with tons of researches and rehearsal. But most importantly, it can’t be done with talent and experiences.
