1. Rachel Crippa 03.13.15 / 2pm

   I watched this film almost a month ago, and I thought it was an excellent film. I went into the film having no expectations and not knowing anything about the story. When the film finished, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The film was not only about latino boys becoming incredible athletes, but also about overcoming hardships in life, and being determined to reach goals. I recommend this film to everyone, such an incredible, inspiring film.

   This film was very great and very inspirational! Many sports don’t recognize Cross Country but in reality it is one of the hardest sports that you can do. It takes a lot of mental toughness. It is not a very common sport and a hard sport for people to be a fan of. Running without stopping is a lot and not many people realize that is what you’re doing. For almost every other sport you get a short break in between. For Cross Country there are no breaks! I’m truly happy this film was made to recognize a sport that not many people even know about.

   Dear Beate,
   I just wanted to point out that your film review is very creative, different, and unique. I have seen several other students try to write a film review in the format, but I believe you are the first when it actually made sense to me. I got a clear understanding of what the film was actually about and I get some knowledge of what you thought the film was actually about also. I went on IMDb to watch the film trailer and thought this would be a great movie to watch. I will try to watch this film when I have free time in the near future. I hope to see other reviews by your in the future!

   I love your style of review. The way you set up each line with a letter from the title is a very creative way to get people to read your review and see what you have to say. You keep the story very brief so you do not spoil it for anyone else who would like to see it. I like how you give some facts about the movie like how they are real boys from the highschool cross country team. The last line “Do watch this movie!” actually makes me want to go see it because you summarized is so little but still encourage others to watch is because it is a must see.

   This review is very interesting. It is much different than usual reviews. I have not seen this movie yet. But, I will definitely try to watch it as soon as I can. This review’s author is very creative and smart as well. Although she used an unusual layout, she gave all explanations that we usually see in a review. For example, she gives us the name of the director and where she saw this movie. Moreover we have a perfect summary of the entire movie without spoilers. This real story takes place in California during the 1980’s. It is a High School track and field topic. I am very excited to watch this movie.

   Oh, my! This is one of the most, if not the most, condensed review/reviews I have seen. I saw the film and I also saw a portrait of a community within a community. And, while it is a Disney film and while I do appreciate the simplicity of your review, I also think of more complex aspects to the film such as the vibrancy of McFarland. It’s also, in my opinion, a story of redemption as Coach White is just about out of coaching and teaching options and he has a family to take care of and provide for. Nevertheless, cute review!

   I think this review sums up what happened in this movie, there were a lot of detail in this movie as well though. When I first saw this movie, I didn’t want to watch it, my Dad put it on for our family and it turned out to be one of my favorite movies! It teaches not only the viewer, but the characters in the movie to make with what you have and be happy for what you’re given. I love the way you review movies, it makes it fun to read and gives you the low down on the movie!

   I have never seen the movie McFarland but after reading your review it sums up what the movie is about which is great! I never thought cross country was an intense sport until my little sister who just finished freshman year in high school began to run. Cross country runners work so hard to improve their time every single day. Their practices are long and intense because they have to run so much in order to compete with the best. My little sister (who is 15) has natural talent, like the characters you mentioned. She was able to be in the top seven at her school and they won the state championship this year! At 15 years old my sister has a state ring… that is insane. I feel like this movie is all about a group of boys proving people wrong and I love that! I really hope I get a chance to watch McFarland soon! Thanks for sharing your review in such a unique way :)

   This is a very inspirational film on top of it being a true story making it even better. I watched this film years ago but can still remember the impact that it left. It shows diversity and the struggles that both the team and coach faced. They came out with a victory which is amazing and the fact they ran so much is quite motivating. I know I wouldn’t be able to run that distance lol. Good review!

    McFarland USA was a feel good- motivational movie. I watched this a few years ago, but it is one of those movies that you can watch over and over again. The style that you used to review this movie was short but did summarize what the movie was about in general, and did not give anything away. This movie really shows the amount of time and effort that needs to be put in when running track. McFarland really emphasizes that if you want to be good, you have to work harder than everyone else. Disney did a great job making this movie, you were really able to connect and feel for the characters in the movie. The way that this movie was presented and organized was great. Overall this was a creative and great review
