My Golden Days (Arnaud Desphechin, 2015): France

imageA beautiful film for true fanatics of formalistic cinema. Some might say this was the cliche for a love story, but some might say it was a very entertaining film filled with attractive youth, funky music of the 80s, clever comedy, a story of love and the up and downs that are brought along with it. It is a pseudo-prequel to the French film My Sex Life … Or How I Got Into An Argument (Arnauld Desplechin, 1996). It is the journey of Paul Dédalus (Quentin Dolmaire, Mathieu Amalric) and the unexpected story about his younger days. Paul falls in love with Esther (Lou Roy-Lecollinet), but his association with the typical rebellious young adults that use their intelligence to their advantage and private work with government drags his attention away from her, causing a series of confrontational events that the two have to learn to resolve to gain happiness. My golden days is a thrilling comedy, filled with action, love, passion and drama everyone would enjoy.
