Dheepan (Jacques Audiard, 2015): France

This film is very well done, three people come together after leaving their homeplace, a war stricken area. A woman, a man and a young girl, they pretend to be a family and are located to a better place. The man is the last of his family and becomes the caretaker of the apartment they’re staying at. The family is trying to adapt to their new surrounding but its also technically a war zone with the gang population in the neighborhood.

When a shooting event occurs the “husband” mixes himself in the gang situations. By the end a big war breaks out. Thankfully the three escape the treacherous area and find their way to a safe and joyful home where they raise a child and begin their new bright life.

This film is intense and emotional, it involves action, romance and adventure. I found it incredibly interesting.
