The film is an Australian independent film that had its world premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2016.
“Alex and Eve” a romantic comedy following two single people from very different backgrounds. Alex (Richard Brancatisano) is Greek Orthodox and Eve (Andrea Demetriades) is Lebanese Muslim. While there are undeniable sparks when the first meet each other, their religious upbringings and crazy old school traditional families will prove to be the biggest obstical of their relationship. The story goes on between scenes of newfound love and happiness, and scenes of anger and arguments. They both have to battle between how they can be with someone they love and how to keep their family together and pleased. This story is an ultimate test of love and a testament to how labels divide us for the worse.
The music throughout the film is very prominent. Some of it goes with the cultural backgrounds of the two families, while other times it is used over the scenes to set the tone and mood.
Audiences who enjoy a good love story would surely enjoy this film. In addition any interest in the genre and themes of comedy, family, and tradition would make “Alex and Eve” a good match.
