Charged: The Eduardo Garcia Story (Phillip Baribeau, 2017): USA | Mexico

This film delivers. A charge. A call to live with a “balls to the wall” determination. Nobody knows the hand they will be dealt. A true story of love and triumph, as well as the strength and fragility of life and humanity. Edwardo and Jennifer, his dedicated lover and friend, demonstrate the beauty and challenge of navigating relationships and the human experience in the face of trauma and tragedy. We all have choices of how to respond. Our choices define us and the lives of those around us. The will to survive is surpassed by a will to live life to the fullest. I especially enjoyed hearing directly from Edwardo Garcia and Jennifer Jane, their family and amazing crew at the Filmmaker Seminar. The movie is true to life; a completely collaborative effort with the entire team. Charged is a beautiful example of how a the telling of one’s personal story can move the human spirit. Thank you for sharing it with the world. I am charged! I am especially impacted by Jennifer Jane’s story as a woman, her role in the film, her relationship with Eduardo and her professional career in film making. She is a truly humble person, which I was honored to meet and her lovely mother as well. I also had the privilege of meeting Eduardo’s brother after the filmmaker seminar.
