Agnieszka Holland did an excellent job in this modern day murder mystery thriller captivating the audience. The movie questions how far our moral code of life has been distorted.

Should the commandment thou shall not kill be taken in vain?Do the other creatures on this planet have the same right to inhabit it?What is our obligation as a species to protect the unprotected? Are animals being hunted for food an exception? Is it morally right to hunt for sport? All of these questions were were written into the script cleverly by Olga Tokarczuk and Agnieszka Holland.

I especially liked the cinematography in this movie. The settings chosen and the extreme longshots  Jolanta Dylewska and Rafal Paradowski use in the picture, do a good job comparing how small this little polish village in the mountains is, compared to the vast dense forest surrounding the town.

Just when you think you have it all figured out the movie adds a little twist ,a classic move for a murder mystery. All said ,I think the movie was written and performed quite well . It exposes issues that we as a society need to change as a moral obligation to the planet. Many people can argue that we are the ruling species over the planet and that all of the other creatures on the planet do not have the ability to reason like the human species. But we must ask ourselves isn’t that even more reason to show love towards the other creatures on the planet.Humans as a species must learn to coexist if we plan to be a species on this planet that doesn’t go extinct.
