The Future Ahead is a movie about friendship. The movie follow Romina and Florencia’s complex and tangled friendship. We see them evolve and change, and how that affects their relationship. The film follows most of their life, as the viewer first see them as kids and eventually towards the end with children who are on the brink of becoming teenagers. The viewer also see these teenagers relationship, which feels just like protagonists friendship.

The acting and the cinematography really carry this movie. All the actors gave an incredible performance. The child actors too, which is something that is rare to see. I also though that the cinematography was amazing and bold. It felt like they put a lot of effort into the camera work and the framing, which I really appreciate because it paid of and gave the film a lot of character.

One problem I had with it was that it lacked story. Or at least “interesting” story. The movie is full of friendship drama. From the beginning to the ending, there is always something going on. Either the two girls are best friends or they are arguing. For me that became overwhelming, and I was waiting for something to happen besides the drama. Something new and interesting. Some action. One scene where she was taking a taxi and it was pouring rain outside I was expecting the car to crash because I felt that something was bound to happen. But of course it never happened. Though, it might just be that I just wasn’t the target audience and that others feel satisfied with the plot. And in that case, they probably loved the movie. But if you’re the person that doesn’t mind sitting down for 90 minutes and watching constant girl drama, than I highly recommend this film.
