The Pixar Story (Leslie Iwerks, 2007): USA

The “Pixar Story” directed by Leslie Iwerks, is about the start of a revolutionary kind of animation. At a time when Disney was occupied with 2d animation, another company was thinking of something bigger. Pixar specialized in a new way of animation, 3d. Funded by Steve jobs, Pixar was a stable company ready for business. The company went through some problems and almost was shutdown when a miracle happened. When Pixar released their first film, Toy Story, it skyrocketed their recognition and business. Other companies and animators were astonished by how ahead of their time Pixar was. “The Pixar story” is an interesting film that high highly recommend to anyone. I loved Toy Story as a kid; I used to watch it over and over. Before I saw this film, I looked back on these Pixar films and thought of them as kid movies. I was proven wrong after the film when director of “The Incredibles”, Brad Bird said, Pixar animation still is film, it’s still the same language of film except they are made differently. After seeing the Pixar Story, I regained the respect I had for Pixar films.

I used to think cartoons were directed towards kids, turns out they were first made for adults. Originally cartoons were made for adults. Cartoons used to be shown before a film to set the mood of the audience. After Toy Story was made, they went on to make Toy Story 2. 90 days before the film was suppose to be released; Pixar realized the finish product wasn’t right. They remade Toy Story 2 right before the deadline and it became a bigger hit than the first one. After this film, Steve Job was comfortable with Pixar and content with his decision of helping support them. It was now time for a new director to take control of Pixars new picture. It was interesting how Pixar worked. Each film had a new director behind it, after Toy Story 2, another guy would take on the new film, A Bugs Life, with the collaboration of 700 employees.

My view towards Pixar’s films has changed a lot after this film; I recommend this film to anyone.
