John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (Chad Stahelski, 2019) USA

John Wick is back! The series is well known for the amazing fighting sequences and for its violence. After 2 movies, John Wick is back for more revenge, but does the third movie of this franchise brings something new to its own story?

Directed by Chad Stahelski, the same director from “John Wick” and “John Wick: Chapter 2”. Chapter 3 picks up where the second one ends, even though is a sequel, the movie pretty movie holds on itself, and if you are wondering if you need to watch the first two to understand this one, I would say no, but I would recommend to watch, because you would feel much more into this world of hitmen. John Wick has a price of 14 million on his head and assassins are after him, that’s basically it.

After directing the 2 first movies, it is very impressive how the director Chad can still manage to increase the action and still never lose control of it. Through the whole movie, there are more than one of two amazing fight sequences. Swords, guns, horses, dogs, motorcycles…It is incredible how the sequences are well directed and we should give a lot of credit to Keanu Reeves, who does a standing job as John Wick, and a guy seeking peace, but who needs to go through war to find peace, doing what he does best.

Another thing very remarkable of the movie is the mise-en-scene, which makes not only the film richer but also brings a good variety to the fighting sequences, with the cinematography and the use of lighting, that usually have either red, purple or green.

“John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” is a good movie with amazing action sequences that would make you sit on the edge of your seat, however the movie lacks in character development and does not make a good use of its supporting cast.
