Parasite has become the most talked about movie over the last couple months. The different awards and nominations for this film are too long to list. In addition to directing, Bong Joon- ho also wrote the screenplay for it.

It is a black comedy thriller about two polar opposite families, the Parks and the Kims. One of them is rich and successful, the other is living in poverty. The plot begins when the son of the Kims, Ki-woo played by Choi Woo-shik, gets recommended for a tutoring job from his wealthy friend to teach the daughter of the Parks. His first day on the job he sees a life changing opportunity to infiltrate the Park’s home and bring a new meaning to the word parasite. Bong Joon-Ho has created a never been done before movie. The plot is incredibly interesting, surprising and jaw dropping. You truly do not know what is going to occur next.

What I really love about this film was the all of the dedication and insanely hard work everyone poured into it. The production of this film was equally amazing. The sound was so clear you could hear every footstep and movement. The crew actually built the whole poor neighborhood and the rich families house (which still exists). The neighborhood is filled with so much detail down to real life bugs you wouldn’t be able to tell. They decorated the rich house with objects of the highest quality so everything was perfect. They even made the poor house smell bad in real life so it was more realistic for the actors. In order to see all the angles of the rich house they made a virtual game! Everything was so meticulously done and that’s what makes it so great.

A scene that sticks out to me was when Ki-woo got hit in the head with the rock. If this was any other movie they would have made Ki-woo dodge the blow to the head but Bong Joon-Ho did something different and made everyone fair game to get injured. Of course there is multiple other plot twists after this scene that blow your mind even more.

I highly recommend this film because of the great quality, hard work and well thought out storyline.
