The Chaser (Na Hong-jin, 2008): South Korea
Reviewed by Nicole de Jong. Viewed at the AFI Filmfestival, Arclight, Los Angeles.
My first impression from the movie The Chaser was really good. The movie had a good story and was unpredictable. This is a movie that especially boys would like to see. The Chaser was sometimes a little bit scary, that is the reason why not all the girls would like to see this movie. This movie is interesting. There was not one moment, that I do not have enjoy the movie.
I saw the Chaser at the AFI filmfestival 2008. The Chaser is directed by Na Hong-jin. Kim Yun-seok, Ha Jung-woo, Seo Young-hee, Koo Bon-woong were the cast of the Chaser. I do not know any of these people, but I think all the performance from these people in The Chaser were really good.
The Chaser is about an ex-detective (Jung-ho), who is now a pimp. Jung-ho is irritated because some of his girls keep disapperaring without clearing their debts. At one night, Jung-ho gets a call from a customer and sends Min-jin. Jung-ho realizes that the phone number of the customer matches that of the calls the missing girls got last. He decides to look for Min-jin.
As a said before, I think that all the performance from the cast of the Chaser were really good.
I can not compare the performance from these people with other films, because I do not know these people. In some scenes you heard music. The music was exciting and was a good choice. The music in this movie, makes the Chaser scary and exciting.
The Chaser is really worth to see. It is interesting and certainly not boring.
