Who Killed the White Llama (Rodrigo Bellott, 2006):Bolivia

To me, there have been same excellent films and there have been a few terrible films this film festival, but Who Killed the White Llama has been the worst film I have seen so far. The film, directed by Rodrigo Bellott, is about a couple that has become infamous criminals in the country of Bolivia. The excessive visual effects, unclear process of events, and overall lack of passion in the film left me completely uninterested.

Jacinto and Domitilia are two married infamous criminals that are sent by some sort of “Don” or drug overlord to deliver 50 kilograms cocaine to the Brazilian border. Through out their trip, two Anti-Narcotics officers are constantly chasing them. This leads to silly blunders that seemed fairly predictable. The films dialogue and acting was not particularly strong leaving myself uninterested to see whether the two criminals would make it. Another thing that kept me distant from the film was not knowing if they were close or not to their destination. In the film there said where they needed to go but never helped the viewer keep track of their progress. The last thing that bothered me was how over the over the top and excessive the visual effects were through out the film. They would have a poorly edited and pixilated image that would come up showing what the person was talking about. These things did not help me understand more of what was going on but instead made me think the film was just cheesy.

Overall I was anxiously awaiting the ending of the film. I may have gone into the film with the wrong idea of what I was seeing, but I was very disappointed with how I had just spent my past two hours. I do not recommend this film, but if you think you would enjoy a confusing storyline, passionless acting, and cheesy effects, this film is for you.
